It was such a great pleasure being a member of the 2012 Nunn Design Innovation Team. I was giddy with excitement every time I received a box of goodies in the mail. It was a big thrill for me to put my design hat on and challenge myself creatively when working with ND findings. Every month, I found myself wanting to make something fabulous because I was given such wonderful components to work with.  This experience for me was also an incredible opportunity to get to know and interact first hand with new Nunn Design products. I have made several purchases after trying out a new item because everything I worked with was truly outstanding.

I would highly encourage you to apply to be a member of the 2013 Nunn Design Team.  They are now accepting applications, so don't miss out on this amazing opportunity!

Learn to Make Resin Jewelry

RESIN 101

Explore the endless possibilities resin has to offer when making and designing jewelry. Students will learn the basic techniques needed to work with resin including mixing, pouring, curing, and adding color. This hands-on class will cover creating and filling hollow bezels, adding inclusions, using resin on paper, making molds, and casting charms. Finishing techniques will also be demonstrated. Various tips and tricks for working with resin will take the mystery out of the process to make it fun and easy. Students will complete a varied collection of elements to use in their jewelry design projects.

Weslyan Artist Market

If you live in the Atlanta area, make plans to stop by the Weslyan Artist Market this week.  The Opening Night Celebration will be held on Thursday, May 3rd from 7pm-9pm.  On Friday the market is open from 9am-7pm and on Saturday from 10am-4pm.

Nunn Design Elements of Inspiration

RHINE

My new creation for Nunn Design officially has a name!  Rhine…it sort of has a Mad Max ring to it doesn’t it?  

I had great fun making this piece.  This was my first experiment working with resin clay and I must say that it won’t be my last!  Resin clay is such an interesting medium to work with and you can do so many things with it such as adding color and embellishments. 

This pendant was made by rolling out the resin clay, stamping it and adding various inclusions.  After the resin cured overnight, I sanded the edges then added color using Gilder’s paste.  So easy!  To add more excitement to the piece, I wire wrapped some copper to a tube finding and viola, I had one cool resin clay pendant!  The resin clay plus the chain and findings can be found  at www.nunndesign.com

The layering of fashion accessories is all the rage this spring season. Choose to make one, two, three or more gemstone beaded bracelets to create your own fabulous look. Complete your personal style with a pair of sparkling chandelier earrings. Learn to make simple wire wrapped loops to create a pair of stunning earrings. Kit supplies will include everything you need to complete these projects. Students will have various color options to choose from. Additional kits will be available for purchase to make on your own after class or to give as gifts. No previous jewelry making experience required!

Nunn Design Innovation Team

It was such a complete honor to be selected to serve as a member on the 2012 Nunn Design Innovation Team.  As a design member, I will receive a fun goody box each month of exciting new Nunn Design products to play with.  In return, I will submit two finished pieces of jewelry which may be promoted on the Nunn Design blog/website and used in various publications.  Sounds exciting right?  You won’t believe what I received in the mail this past January!

It was so much fun to open my first box of treats from Nunn Design.  It felt like Christmas all over again.  At first glance, my creative wheels starting whirling and I couldn't wait to get started.  It was so exciting to work with these new products.  While I can’t show you the two necklaces I sent in for submission yet, I can show you what I made for myself.

I made this beauty using various chains from Nunn Design.  I call it Vintage Chic.  I took a 1950's brooch and gave it a new life as a stunning updated necklace.  I am a total chain junkie so I’m always on the hunt for new and interesting chain to work into my designs.  I was so pleasantly surprised by the chains offered at Nunn Design.  The quality is superb, the price is just right and they have a great selection.  Did I mention their rhinestone chain?  What girl doesn’t love a little bling in her jewelry?

Each Winter, the Spruill Center for the Arts hosts the Annual Student & Instructor Jewelry Market.

This exciting fundraising event showcases beginning to professional level jewelry artists, who will exhibit and sell their unique handcrafted jewelry to the public.

Selections include diverse jewelry styles in precious metals, glass, beads, gemstones, and more at prices to fit every budget.

New Class Offering @ the JCAC!

Warm up this winter by getting your creative juices flowing in this Introduction to Beading class at the Johns Creek Art Center.  My 4 week class begins on Tuesday, January 17th at 10am until 12pm.  Participants will learn the basics of beading including stringing, crimping, wire wrapping and the proper use of tools. Students will have the opportunity to make several jewelry pieces including a necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings.  Sign up today!
